Hi Lee, I hope you're doing well. I'm sorry you haven't had anyone respond to your posts. We don't have a lot of members and I'm not sure how often they check the site for posts. How are you feeling? Are you going through treatment now or are you done?
I am still going thru reconstruction again. have been for 3yrs now. just had my nipples done monday. I got lucky and didnt have to have treatments, we caught it early, but still had to have both breast removed. I just don't have anyone to talk to about all this. Ive had to quit my nursing job and now I at home alone most of the time. It gets very hard at times.

thank you for talking to me. Blessed Be

It does get hard. Why did you have to quit your job? What kind of nurse are you? I'm glad you caught your cancer early. I did too and it makes such a huge difference! I still had to have chemo and radiation but the cancer wasn't in my lymph nodes and so, hopefully I won't get a recurrence.
I have worked in just about all fields, My latest job- I had to pull on people and I am unable to do that. I ripped my pocket out twice already. I hope to go back to nursing soon. Its nice to stay home for a change, alot to do! I love working outside! Blessed Be

You can get a lot done by being at home! I was a stay-at-home mom for many years and just worked about 10 hours a week. Now I work a lot more but my kids are older.
Hi Lee. My name is Sue. I saw your post about someone to talk to. I'm 44 and almost to my 3 year mark. I haven't done reconstruction yet. It was a long 2 1/2 years of surgeries and treatments and decided to take a break from surgeries (I wasn't a candidate for immediate reconstruction), especially for my children. It was very traumatic for all three of them (now 16, 12 and almost 8). I'm currently a stay-at-home mom. I had planned on going back to work when my youngest started kindergarten but life had a different plan for me and I was diagnosed with the breast cancer. I just started volunteering at my local hospital and am working on a support/informational website for my local area. I live in a very rural area and there is really not much support or information out there. I hope you are doing well and hope we can "chat":) Sue

Hi Sue, sorry its taking me so long to reply. I recently had another surgery. I am almost done, its been almost three years for me too. I also have 3 children around the same ages of yours. I to stay home, I have retired from my nursing. It is a long road, but we are survivors! Try to rest when you can and enjoy your life. I used to take things for granted, now I cherish every moment, every day with my husband and my children. I don't let worldly things get to me anymore. Same here with support around, their is none. When you are going thru this, it feels like you are all alone, but others are out here. Some of us just don't know where to look or who to look for. If I can help in anyway to answer any question or to just talk, write anytime. Take care Sue. Blessed Be
Hi there....I understand what you mean. How are you doing? I just had my left breast removed last thrusday. I am going tomorrow for my result, I am hoping that all is well. I plan on also having the right one removed later. Just wasn't there emotionally to let it go yet. I just found this forum, so I hope your still around. Ijoined the site about two months ago but, i have been pretty busy. I also go into chat with another bccancer group, amazing women. I would love to share the site with you if your interested.

Hi Patty. I hope you're feeling better from your surgery and you get good results today. Please keep us posted. I ended up having the other breast removed two years after my initial surgery. I planned on having reconstruction but decided to wait on that for a few more years so made the decision to have the prophylactic mastectomy last year. Thank you for sharing the other site, I will check it out.
I've been working on a breast cancer support website for women in my area because it's so rural here, but if you check under the FREE tab, you can find some complimentary items for women with breast cancer.... www.navigatingthejourney.com

Thanks Sue.. Got good news today! The node was clean and clear.. no cancer there! So, I was pretty lucky girl..
It was the best day a girl could have. Long day also..
I want to have the other one removed for the same reason. I figure i am going to wait till I get healed and some stuff done, then schedule the other one. Some say yes, some say no.. I dont want to be on a bunch of drugs and worry worrry worry...
I have the tissue expander in right now, this isnt fun at all.
What kind of recon are you planning on? There is so many choices .. confused me a lot.
I hope we get a chance to chat... There is a chat feature on the bcsupport board..
I am going to check out your link now.
I will write later...
I sure feel good.. My hubby Craig and I ... did the happy dance right in the office. Then we came out with HUGE SMILES and gave lots of hugs along the way.
I love to can and do all the " homemaker" stuff.. I worked so many years and never had time. Now, I am remarried to an amazing man and I can stay home. So I have time and resources to do this stuff once again. I am really into a lot of the "good" food...
So I thought I may have to make up some special gifts for them at the office, they were so sweet to me.
I just got a recipe book from one of my fav's.. Michael Smith from Prince Edward Island in Canada. I am so excited.... can't to feel better so I can start cooking!
Any good idea's - recipes I am all ears..
Hi Lee..just reading your post. I am newly diagnosed..dcis..and in process of deciding what to do...so overwhelming but I am here and a good listener too!! I dont know what stage you are at..but we can help each other. 3 weeks ago I barely had heard of dcis...I have had to make myself an expert in order to make my decisions. Surgical consults, oncology, plastic surgery..and an all day trip to a major Cancer Center in Tampa. I am tired..and all the things to come...so many decisions. So write back and let me know what is going on with you! :o) I am here.
Good afternoon Lee. I am very new to this breast cancer sight. I was diagnosed april 25th & lumpectomy may 25th, my chemo starts june 29th.... Any time you want to talk just shoot me any email.. It is very hard to handle this emotionally, financially, & physically....Only thing that keeps me strong is HOPE!!! Stay positive.....
